The KJV Bible Translates Three Distinct Greek Words as 'Hell'!

Time to study!

G1067: Gehenna

G86: Hades

This corresponds to the Hebrew word 'Sheol':

G5020: Tartaroo

Note 1:
Jesus did not "go to hell" as we commonly understand "going to hell" in contemporary English. But we know He was put in a grave, in which He also did not stay.

Acts 2:27
Because you will not leave my soul in hell (G86), neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption.
Act 2:31
He (David) seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell (G86), neither his flesh did see corruption.

Note 2:
The lake of fire into which death and hell (Hades — the grave) will be thrown (Revelation 20:14) is the process through which someone's existence will come to a permanent/perpetual/eternal end instead of continuing as in the case of a person who had received the gift of eternal life in Jesus (Romans 6:23). The wages of sin is death, not remaining alive in hell (Gehenna being understood in this case): the place about which Jesus said that it is better to enter [eternal] life missing a body part than to have all body parts, including any that would be occasions to commit sin, and be thrown into it
(Matthew 5:29-30). That hell (Gehenna) is necessarily synonymous with destruction.

Matthew 7:13-14
13 “Enter by the narro
w gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and constricted is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Therefore, someone who is living is sin is on the way that leads to destruction, not the way that leads to an eternal life of being in torment in hell (Gehenna).
