Who Am I To Judge?

  Image by Sabrina Eickhoff from Pixabay.

A judge would never say that. And judges do exist so judging is the function of some, even some who have taken the beam out of their eyes. (No one said it was impossible - Matthew 7:5). Jesus' teaching is plainly and precisely against judging hypocritically (Matthew 7:1-5). The hypocrite is even told what to do to be able to exercise the love of his neighbor and help him out in removing the speck out of his eye! That requires seeing rightly and exercising discernment/a right judgment. But some like to keep the beam in their own eyes and act like everyone else has one in theirs, walks in darkness, and so would be a hypocrite to pronounce judgment on any matter. That's the darkness they are comfortable in simply.

*This message takes about 15 minutes for a first reading (without looking up the bible references). Time markers are added along the text for those who are mindful of what they spend their time on in this hour. (Psalm 90:12) :-) God bless you!
_______

One should not stand as a judge if he doesn't have a law that he is called to be a minister of, while being himself obedient to it, but he must not assume either that no one can judge (exercise a righteous judgment about a matter or person, making clear distinctions between good and evil, light and darkness, sweet and bitter - Isaiah 5:20, things that must be done to walk a right path - because not all chosen paths are right). And frankly, we all really do routinely judge. Ex: A young couple may pass a drug addict as a potential caretaker for their child and prefer a person with no such history. A new transport company may hire a driver with a clean driving record rather than one who had a DUI arrest even 10 years before. Employers seek to hire "the right candidate" in general (one choice over other possible choices). Judgment is exercised in those cases and a direction is chosen between two mutually exclusive options. Is that wrong or a lot of judging is usually called common sense rather, and even personal bias, while the push to "NOT JUDGE", even with words taken out of context from the Bible, can be magnified somehow as the loudest voice to be heard in society?

[12:45]
John 7:24
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

This cannot be an impossibility. There is a way to exercise righteous judgment with a clear conscience. The Gospel opens the door to it. And the following scriptures hold some guiding principles:

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

2 Timothy 2:19
However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."

Luke 5:30-32
30. Their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?" 31. Jesus answered them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do. 32. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

Luke 15:7
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.

2 Peter: 3. 9.
The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1 Timothy 2:3-4
3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; 4. who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.

[11:00]
Remark:
Truth, righteousness, and salvation go hand in hand, and repentance with faith towards God ushers in that walk of truth, righteousness, and salvation that Jesus died to allow man to be on (Luke 1:68-75), taking care of first things first: the forgiveness of one's sins committed up to that moment that he/she decides to ask God for forgiveness (having also forgiven others - Matthew 6:14-15) in repentance (turning to God, towards careful and loving obedience to his will and turning away from sin). On that walk then, when one has passed from death to life, from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18; John 5:24; 1 John 3:4), one has open eyes to judge especially between good and evil, in agreement with God Himself. And unlike what may be perceived by the world, if one is led by the Spirit of God, the purpose is a loving one: to bring others from death to life, from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God as it is the will of God. For no one that is saved is saved to gather with like-minded believers only, and be silent otherwise. Either one is light or one is darkness still! (2 Corinthians 4:6; Ephesians 5:8). And light by definition is not lit to be hidden (Matthew 5:14-15).

[09:25]
Without judgment, there is no justice and having laws is useless. No one can be in trouble with any law, even the mass murderer could have a pass on being a criminal. That is the allowed extreme of such mindsets that forbid judgment absolutely. It is unequivocally a push towards lawlessness (Matthew 24:12). And "where there is no law there is no transgression" (Romans 4:15). So then sin also won't be seen as a criminal matter in the eyes of God, and the loving sacrifice of his Son to reconcile the sinful world to Himself is all but a narrative that excludes the dying with Him to be resurrected with Him also to newness of life (Romans 6:4; Ephesians 2:4-9; Colossians 3:1-4).

Such "Good News" does not get to most believers. Why is that? Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Shall people through their denominations and traditions make their own way to the Father? Shall they portray their own 'god' and worship him/it? Idolatry is really what that amounts to: the worship of what is not the one Eternal God. It is a deception.

[08:10]
Truth establishes reality while lies maintain a delusion, even fifty shades of gray (pun intended). Just switch on the light (ex: become a true follower of Jesus) in any dark room where wicked things are happening (ex: the world), and the evil works along with the evildoers will be instantly exposed. It is the same when the word of God is spoken, because it is light, a light more penetrating than anything natural. In ideal circumstances, I perceive, it grinds the pride of man to powder and exposes him as "not good", in a wretched condition and in dire need of a Savior. The word of God will judge the hearts of people and expose all the foolishness therein. And pride is opposed to that work so God also is opposed to the prideful (1 Peter 5:5; James 4:6) who love their ways more than Him and cannot afford to lose the sinful life they are living by undergoing the saving correction they are called to by the Gospel of peace/reconciliation. That's because they don't think that they are perishing (1 Corinthians 1:18). They claim they see while they are in fact blind (John 9:41; Revelation 3:17-18).

Mark 8:35
For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.

Luke 9:23
He said to all, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

John 14:15
If you love me, keep my commandments.

[06:30]
John 9:39-41
39. Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgment, that those who don't see may see; and that those who see may become blind." 40. Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, "Are we also blind?" 41. Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

John 12:46.
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

Jesus will judge the world according to the word that He has spoken (John 12:48; Act 17:30-31). Love warns. And the truth may sting, but it heals! It restores the soul (Psalm 19:7; 23:3) and ushers in life, that is, true spiritual life (John 6:63).

Proverbs 16:6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged (atoned for). And by the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.

John 8 31-32
Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free (from bondage to sin - John 8:34)."

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

[04:47]
John 16:7-8
7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away, the Counselor (the promised Holy Spirit - Acts 2:38, 5:30-32) won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8. When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

John 8:12
Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Those who walk in darkness champion a tolerance that is first of all self-directed, and is a dark hiding place where what is surely evil can coexist with what is surely good and be left alone. No truth/light/justice is allowed in. So then what is often lauded as tolerance which springs from the quality of being "open-minded" cannot be an expression of love, when stripped of a foundation of truth. But it is good news that honesty is universally appreciated, it seems. It is a good way forward from any place or personal circumstances. That way, one's state of need can be acknowledged and embraced before God, and then He can intervene on the basis of that agreement with the truth and show his saving power. What one is saved from is then made manifest and exceeding peace and joy and eternal gratefulness sets into the heart as a new life "in Jesus" is put into motion (John 15:1-8).

[03:08]
1 Corinthians: 13. 6.
(Love) doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

The love of God towards mankind functions on the basis of truth - not flattery. For at the root of every sin (sinful behavior or sinful thinking) is a lie that is believed and acted upon. That is the very story of the fall of man: a departure from the word of God that is true for something else that sounded good (Genesis 3:1-6), thereby instituting enmity with God through sin (Romans 5:6-11; 2 Corinthians 5:20). We all go that way and are called to return to God/repent/be reconciled to Him/walk in righteousness and truth/live in obedience to his will.

Acts 17:30-31
30. The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent, 31. because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead."

(Isaiah 59:1-2
1. Behold, Yahweh's hand is not shortened, that it can't save; neither his ear heavy, that it can't hear: 2. but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.)

[01:36]
Again...
2 Timothy: 2. 19
However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."

Matthew: 4. 17.
From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

Still...
John 3:19-21
19. This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; because their deeds were evil. 20. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his deeds would be reproved. 21. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be revealed, that they have been done in God."

Acts 26:15-18
15. "I said, 'Who are you, Lord?' "He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 16. But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen, and of the things which I will reveal to you; 17. delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you, 18. to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

Take the 3P (PPP) challenge: Pray for People who Piss you off!

Take the 3P (PPP) challenge:
Pray for People who Piss you off!

It's simple: Don't spend time and energy criticizing or being mad at others.

And when you don't do that, please be quick to criticize yourself and correct your ways! After a while, if you don't like what you are seeing (how you are doing with the challenge), you need help! So take to God what you see that needs fixing in you. Be humble and go to Him for any healing and restoring you need yourself. Why are you bitter, quick-tempered or full of rage? (I speak to Christians.) Our Master Jesus is not like that. So as we have it in our minds to be his disciples indeed (John 8:31-32), we will be transformed to be more like Him (Romans 6:4-7; Romans 8:29; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 3:18). If that's not happening, we need to go back to square one. Ask yourself: How did you start that walk of faith when you believed? What gospel message did you hear? Did you repent and know when you have received the Holy Spirit to sanctify you, separate you from and make you more and more unlike the world that does not know God?

This world teaches you to be a wild beast lest you be devoured (by other wild beasts), but God does not lead his people that way.

What word is in you? (Let your gentlesness be known to all): https://www.facebook.com/yestothetruth/posts/1245823472163240

_______

Matthew 5:43-48
43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. 46 If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47 If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48 But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Romans 12:14-21
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Eternal One. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Galatians 5:16-23
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Titus 3:1-8
1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Use this challenge as a mirror...

James 1:21-25
21 Therefore, having put aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, receive in humility the implanted word, that is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves, 23 because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror, 24 for he has viewed himself and has gone away, and immediately he has forgotten of what manner he was. 25 But the one having looked intently into the perfect law, that of freedom, and having continued in it, not having been a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work—this one will be blessed in his what he does.

And Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32) Realize people around you that you recognize as having "issues" need their healing from the Savior. "Hurt people hurt people" (Will Bowen) is a saying that has truth to it. Pray for them. You can always reach God on their behalf, whether it's someone you know or a stranger on the streets, and whether or not you get to speak to them. But when your reaction tends towards wanting to get back at people, or show them who they are messing with, etc. maybe you do this from a defensive place of hurt. That's a stronghold that needs to be brought down. It has no place in your life. In the world you shall have tribulation (John 16:33; 1 Peter 4:19) as a follower of Jesus, but God is your help, not a stronghold that is not from God.

Psalm 18:2
The Eternal One is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

The truth of God's word is our food for healing and to set us free from all bondages.

Matthew 4:4
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

John 8:31-32
1 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 15:7-8
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

But if you are prideful on top of any temperament issues you may have, you can't recognize your own problem as a problem so you can have your own healing. Additionally, you may stuble upon the fact that you have difficulty forgiving people, which is a no-no (Matthew 6:14). For Jesus said:

Matthew 6:9-14
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. 14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Satan is not playing around. He has plan A and many plan Bs to trap you and keep you bound. Keep this in mind: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." (1 Peter 5:5) You need grace to deal with all the evil in the world. And it's fully within your capacity to humble yourself before God to receive the abundance of his grace. Or esle He will humble you as He needs to in order to get your attention as his child, if you are going around not being like Jesus and if indeed He is your Lord and Savior (1 John 2;6; 1 John 4:17). He chastises his children whom He loves (Hebrews 12:5-11; Revelation 3:19).

Pride goes before destruction:

Titus 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

May Jesus bless you!

If You Want Newness In Your Life...

+Cleaning up your physical space is a good exercise. It helps you see in 3D what things you may be attached to in a spiritual sense and that may serve you nothing. Keep what you need, donate what may serve another and get rid of the rest. Let then what is essential be tailored for its most usefulness and effectiveness.

If you want newness in your life, you must make room for what you want to come into your life. If you're going to turn a page, do it cleanly and completely. That is, when you get to what you call the new, you must not hold on to any shadow of the old. Some can more easily than others turn life stories into history, whether it is with another person in a relationship, a job, even a house, etc., but these times come when pages must be turned, when new chapters need to start, and we may not right then be fully aware of the affection we have towards things that belong to a day passed. And that is a state of delusion: the failure to fully grasp what the new reality is and to embrace it while correctly placing in the past what belongs there (not trying to "save" what must be put behind). And this can happen even when the turn is fully within our control to make. Without effort or much thought, we can erect monuments or allow monuments to remain standing in our lives (for a memorial) that only takes space and to which we allow easy access to come and occupy our thoughts. That is disorder. Indeed, some have moving on down to a science and it may profit them well (unless it's about escaping responsibility), but some simply don't have it naturally to let things go and move on. To the latter, I want to encourage you to love the truth and to be quick to assess and acknowledge your reality, but not only that, to not waste time living in two worlds even passively. That is, you may not be actively or consciously looking towards the past from the point where you are in your life, but you allow things from your past to come pay your mind a visit for no useful purpose anytime they please. Yes, that is disorder. It takes some time to clean up space, whether it is physical or emotional space. It takes some time. But it's a job that needs to be done like any other job. It requires clarity on what is not in order and a determined effort to reach that state of order and readiness of the new space in your life for new things, new people and new experiences to come in.

All this may sound like plain wisdom of man minding earthly things, but that very same principle applies when one seeks the LIFE that includes God and that is from God. That way the Gospel lays out requires a turn, so a clearly marked turning point called repentance; it involves a call to be answered, a job to be done (e.g. opening your mouth to answer the call, then it requires that you walk the walk - no one walked your own walk for you), and then a moving on to the new can follow.

James 4:8
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (That is repentance.)

James 1:21-22
21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness [that's repentance], receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word [that's faith], and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Mark 1:14-15
14 Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; **repent** and believe in the gospel.”

Acts 26:20
First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should **repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.**

Let no one deceive you. You must prepare your heart for God. If you are going to be "reconciled" with someone, it cannot be without understanding of why a reconciliation is needed in the first place and the severity of the alienation/gap to be bridged. The Gospel opens the door to the reconciliation between God and man through Jesus' sacrifice. The issue is sin (Isaiah 59:2). Examine your heart and change your heart and He will receive you. You haven't received Jesus if you have not found Him worthy of receiving honor from you, of receiving love/obedience (John 14:15) from you. But He receives you, when you run to Him as the prodigal son did. Consider then the prodigal son's heart, his understanding of his choices and his circumstances and the hope He had that his father would receive him IF he turned his life around, IF he let go of many things that grieved his father, having a sincere regret for offending and dishonoring him. Something happened in that son's heart. He knew He did wrong and took responsibility for it. He had a moment of clarity on the things in his life that were only good to be thrown out. And he got up and said 'No more of that. I love my father. I will return to him and I will honor him.' Have you said no more of that life of sin alienated from Father God, in every way?

Read the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) and meditate on it. Ponder on how it may be your life's story and what responsibility it lays on your conscience first and on your shoulders for what you will need to make decisions about concerning the present direction of your life. And in all things, put God first. He puts things in order!

~~~~~~~
Luke 9:57-62
57 While they were walking along the road, a man told him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus told him, “Foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest.” 59 He told another man, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 But he told him, “Let the dead bury their own dead. But you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another man said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to those at home.” 62 Jesus told him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 14:5-6
5 Thomas asked him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
FAITH OF JESUS (Jesus' faith) VS FAITH IN JESUS
INTRODUCTION
The focus of this study is to list passages where "faith of Jesus" is used and to understand the difference between that and "faith in Jesus", as the two are not the same. The main text used below is the King James Clarified version (http://studybible.info/KJC), which is the King James Version without the archaic words. Each passage was cross-referenced in the King James Version, the New King James Version and the World English Bible (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=&version=KJV;NKJV;WEB). Each passage is followed by a link to the Interlinear Greek bible (http://biblehub.com/interlinear) where individual words can be clicked through to find the definition in the concordance. 8 Yes most certainly, and I count all things as loss (worthless) for the excellency (surpassing worth/value) of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them as dung, that I may gain Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is THROUGH THE FAITH OF CHRIST, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hidden in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence BY THE FAITH OF HIM.
Compare with "believe in" (in/on is the Greek word "eis" - G1519):
John 3:16
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/john/3-16.htm
John 16:9
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/john/16-9.htm
[We need to believe in Jesus and have the faith of Jesus: it's the faith that was once delivered to the saints, that we must earnestly contend for (Jude 1:3). It's the (same) faith Jesus wondered if He would find on the earth at his coming: "when the Son of Man comes, will He find (*the) faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)
*Most translations do not have the (*the) before the word 'faith' in this Luke verse, but it's in the original (http://biblehub.com/interlinear/luke/18-8.htm). It's a precise (kind of) faith that Jesus was talking about.]
Romans 3:21-22
21 But now the righteousness of God outside the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is BY FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST unto all and upon all them that believe
Warning: some versions read "by faith in Jesus Christ"
Romans 4:16
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/romans/4-16.htm
Compare again:
"obedience of Christ" (Christ's obedience) is written in a similar way as "faith of Christ"...
2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
http://biblehub.com/interlinear/2_corinthians/10-5.htm
Remark: While the KJV text is here contrasted with modern versions in the passages presented for this study, this is not to infer that it is itself a perfect translation. The Holy Spirit is given to preserve the Word of God and lead into all truth (Acts 5:32; John 16:13) those who repent when they hear the Gospel, whether they could afford a particular bible or not. Let this be a warning to not make an idol of a bible version, but to be seeking God always and remain with a humble and teachable spirit.
____________ REMINDERS ____________
Jesus as a servant Himself of the Father...
Philippians 2:5-11
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Word for his disciples...
Luke 6:40
The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect* shall be as his master.
*complete/fully-trained/made to be as one ought to be
Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to me in heaven and in earth.
John 6:56
He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.
John 15:4-5
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine; no more can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.
1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 2:6
He that says he abides in Him ought himself also so to walk, just as He walked.
